Leadership Training Camp 2006
alright. i reckon the photos wont be uploaded so soon so i'd better update about the camp first before i forget!
-Day One-
Arrived at school early in the morning with my big fat haversack, shoebag, and my 1.5L bottle.
Bedivere-Camelot gathered at the carpark, boarded the bus and set off for the Jalan Bahtera campsite.
On our way there, we played many stupid Kiam Pa games like the MRT game, the Around (somewhere) In Eighty Days game, the What Time Is It Now game, blarh blarh blarh.
Reached the campsite and we started our mass cleaning. Yuck! there were like, so many lizard poops in the birdhouses we're living in! Ugh.
After cleaning, we had some ice breakers at the Facilitator's birdhouse. And we had to make Ms Choong laugh as a forfeit! ARGH. DO YOU KNOW HOW TOUGH IS THAT?! (but we managed in the end.)
den we had lunch. and thanks to the rain. we had to run back to the birdhouse, drenched, to get our utensils. the Bedi guys were nice to go there in ONE raincoat and come back with FIVE. shao jie was clumsily pulling the raincoat over me and in the midst of it, his utensils hit my head with the "CLANG" ringing in my ears. the Bedi girls ran back to our birdhouse to take our utensils. While the 4 other girls went toilet, Sylvia (aka shortshort aka 148) and I (teehee. i'm 153!) returned with all our utensils and the Bedi guys were laughing at us, claiming that we looked like seaweeds swimming in the rain. >.<
after lunch, we went for Kayak School! learn Kayaking and had Capsize Drill. Dang. my partner has this weird phobia of water although he knows how to swim. all the way we were kayaking, he was complainin how scared he is and he doesnt wanna capsize. unfortunately, ms choong picked us as the first to do the capsize drill. we failed the first trial. during the second trial, him being afraid, caused the front of the kayak with me in it to capsize first and the impact was horrible. the kayak knocked my head with a loud bump and i was nearly knocked out. when i surfaced the water, i realised my hairband broke into 2 and i was in pain! but we still completed the capsize drill and the rest of kayak school. we heeded mr. ong's advice and swopped places. with me at the back and him in front. we definitely work better this way. (ha. this implies that i'm the stronger one amongst the 2 of us. and true enough. i could easily change the direction of OUR kayak with my own single effort. sometimes, i feel that when i'm now kayaking, we're not moving at all larh. haiyo. guys nowadays...... so disappointing!)
and during the night, was Leadership Training and debriefing (:
-Day Two-
it was a rough night. what with the lights and all the whispers and little commotions here and there, plus the hard wooden planks.. i couldn't really sleep well. i woke up no less than 10 times the entire night. boos. :(((
6a.m: Assemble at Parade Area, PT
630a.m: Flag Raising den breakfast
7a.m: Kayak Shack, get ready to launch off.
8a.m - 1p.m: Kayak to Kranji Lake
this is the highlight of the day! we kayaked and kayaked and kayaked all the way, resting in between when any of the camelots capsized, whilst keepin our diamond formation. on our way, we cheered, we sang, we motivated each other to push on, to hang on.when we finally reached our destination, we were already behind schedule. and we were all tired and exhausted---physically and mentally. so we headed back towards our campsite. thoroughly fatigued. i really had to mentally tell myself to move on, to hang on, to press on, to persevere.rah.
had a shock when one of the leaders shouted "come on camelot! FIVE MORE K TO GO!" i was like "what?! FIVE?! so we paddled like what, 10km?!" -total craziness-
when we were back, we were really dead beat. and still had to drift along the shore, waiting to keep the kayak.
we paddle together. we cheer together. we capsize together. we pee in the sea together. we sunburn together. it was a really unforgettable experience.
after lunch and washing up, was our Belay School activity. learning how to belay and the commands and tada! night time! rest time! bathing time! sleep time!
-Day Three-
6am: PT & Flag Raising & Mass Gathering
7am: Breakfast
8am: Abseiling (bwee! i just love abseiling mann! love love love love love!)
9am: Hanging Logs
10am: Logs and Tires (oh mann. this was super scary. and my sweaty palms plus sunblock didnt help but deterred me by making me slip! rah! scared scared scared scared scared! but still, i completed it! yay.)
11am: mass gathering
12nn: lunch! pack up! wash up! bathing was horrible. cuz we were all burnt! Bedi girls were all moanin and screamin when our warm and fragile skin touched the cold strong water current. rahhh.
after lunch, we had to drink up seven 1.5L bottles of water as a group, den divide into pairs, one is given the map and direct the other one to draw. after which, we grab our stuffs and set off. although poor Bedi was the last to leave the campsite, when we reached the bus stop, the other 3 teams were still there! haha. we took 975 to bukit panjang plaza and the entire Bedi couldnt take it anymore and we chionged to the toilet, ignoring our clue & password : F&B and The White Basket. we "wu da wu zhuang" went to the toilet and tadaH! Mos Burger was RIGHT BESIDE THE TOILET & guess what?! white basket? mos burger? got the link?!! haha.
after we got our second clue, we chionged to the interchange and took 176 to West Coast. nice and sweet Jun Kai facil bought us moisturizer and we were busy applying it on the bus. :))) heh hehs. we were asked to go through all the obstacles at the playground, and then dig the sand for our last clue that'll lead us to our final pit stop. lucky Bedi again got lucky & within a minute, we found our clue! you wanna know how lucky we are? one hour later when we reached our pit stop & finished pitching our tents, the last group was still digging!
we den started fire at the BBQ pits, cooked maggie noodles in the mess tins and ate and shared. totallaye exchange saliva experience. hahaha. after dinner, we went for night quest!
we had to go in pairs & i was again, with my kayak partner. my disability was one arm disabled while his is blindness. and together, we had to go through the obstacles with all our disabilities. haha. it was really fun but i wished it could be more exciting.
that night, we were all really really tired. no commotions, no whispers, no nothing could stop us from our sleep and i really fell asleep the moment my head hit my haversack. zzzZ
-Day Four-
wake up. collapse tent. area clean up. pack up. mass debrief. take bus. back to camp site.
have lunch. clean up. debrief. prepare to set off for NY!
mass debrief and sharing session. dinner. rehearsal. den it's Finale Night!
we have a series of skit performances in the LT and then it's Knight presentation, Principal's Speech and the Finale night ended.
But we went on with a tribal in the parade square and celebrated Ms Lee's birthday! (: den it's picture time! lalalalala (:
finale night then marks the end of the entire leadership camp experience.
I'll never forget all the fun we had, all the pains we shared. the chao ta char siew limbs, the "HUN" cheers, the singing, the sun, the rain, the fun, the pain.
