Taiwan Trip!!
the LOOOONG AWAITED Taiwan, Taipei Journal! (:(:(:
Oooh. I absolutely LURVE window seats! :D
Tata for now, my beloved homeland! SINGAPORE!! so prettaye!
*heart fluttering* so excited!! (:
as i was staring and staring and staring out of the window, the serenity of natures' beauty struck me hard. everytime we think of the beauty of nature, the scene of a forest full of greenery and life and little cutesy animals lyk squirrels or wild and ferocious tigers and lions would hit us. but, think again. nature's more than just tall canopies and undergowth. (:
now, i'll think of the clouds the winds the sky and the seas. heehee.
this is the bus ticket for a bus ride from the Taipei Tao Yuan airport to the Taipei train station!
i thought this was rather interesting. it's behind every door of each cubicle in the toilet of the train station! tsk tsk!my first meal in Taiwan! it's "Za Jiang Mian" means assorted sauce noodles if loosely translated. haha.and Lipton milk tea endorsed by Wang Lee Hom!!! -melts-
after which was a good shower in the hotel and some nice interesting variety shows before turning in for the night.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
heading for some busy streets near our hotel.. looking for breakfast! tsk tsk. we found a place with superbly nice beehoon soup to eat. and then continued walkin aimlessly, sightseeing..
haha. we found a wet market to spend our time! it's very interesting because in turns out that Taiwanese and VERY fond of intestines and pigs. i saw a real PIG HEAD first time in my life. quite gross actually. and there's live chickens croaking at the top of their lungs because before them are the hairless & cooked version of their fellow chickens lying in front of them, waiting to be bought..
EXTREMELY YUMMYLICIOUS FRIED RICE!!! hmmmm. i wish i could have it now.. even my parents loved it.
after market trip and resting at the hotel for awhile, we asked for directions to "Wu Fen Pu" which is recommended by the hotel people to go shopping for super cheap clothes. this is the train station we went.. haha. spot my daddy and mummy!!!
train ticket.the train entering the station..TADA!!! "Wu Fen Pu"!!! i was SOOOO psyched.
but!! the shops here mainly do wholesale and a bit of retail.. (which, is supposed to be good because then the retail price would be close to the wholesale price!) but they dont have dressing rooms here and no trying allowed!!! -sobs-
i only bought a dress-top that i saw at a boutique in Parco Bugis.. which cost 39SGD there, but only about 9NTD in Taiwan!!! -horrors-
i dont know if there's a difference in material, but the design is EXACT! too bad it doesn't have BLACK! the original one that i tried in Bugis, so i bought the white instead. ):
haha. just trying to show you all the MRT..at night, it was Shi Lin night market! (: this part actually sells food, with tables and chairs to sit down and enjoy. haha. many many different stalls made us so spoilt for choice.
and they have games stalls too! like our "Pasar Malam". heehee.daddy and i chose to eat this while mummy's elsewhere having something more "oriental"...we shared this Chicken Chop on hotplate, which has pasta underneath is and an egg! the dish comes with a drink, a (corn)soup and bread! all these only costs about SGD$6.70!! yum. so worthwhile (:den we headed to the other part of Shi Lin night market which is about a street away.. and we walked and gaped at all the interesting things. hahaha. this places is something like Far East's level one... with lots of shops that are very unique and with interesting themes.. and here's where i saw a heart throb male sales guy in one of the shops!!! *difficulty breathing* haha. and i feel so embarrassed to try on clothes there. LOL. ahhhh! -faints- i think yaya the man-eater would pounce onto him. AHAHAHAHA!
awww. SO ADORABLE!!!some pet shop there... with loads of cute puppies displayed! how i wish i could cuddle you home! ))))):haha. after "Bai Se Ju Ta", here's the sequel, "Huang Se Ju Ta"!!!it's actually potato(i forgot if it's skinned or not) sliced CONTINUOUSLY in spirals and then stretched on a long satay stick and then deep fried. costs about SGD$1.90 per stick.
and there's different flavours to choose from. i chose cheese (of course!!!) and the vendor just used a shaker to sprinkle (GENEROUSLY) the cheese on it. yummy yummy! and super crispy!the real shopping begins...
it's actually very similar to Bugis Village, except with wider street and many illegal vendors (above picture) in the middle of the street.CRAMMED!i'm eating Muah Chee with chocolate ice cream fillings! The "Teh Gus" came and away all the vendors go! haha. it's really apalling to see the methods and places they resort to, to hide and camouflage..this is a single-trip ticket for the Mrt rides..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daddy eating the "Oh-Ah Mee Sua"
at the "Zhong Zheng Ji Nian Tang"......
Daddy and Mummy Mummy and Me (:Daddy and me!carmeny love :DDaddy and MummyAttention!! Salute!the place was humongous!! haha.. love-*
Ximending!Ximending!!!Daddy and Mummy in the middle of Ximending!
(haha. daddy keeps grumbling carrying my bad. not because of the weight but the colour.)SPOT ME! hahaha.crepe!!! (i miss D'crepe that used to be in Bugis!!! sobs.)dinner at the roadside stalls. haha. it's a funny scene. imagine: roadside stalls at the ground floor of some building. (and look! behind is actually a dishwasher! the lady in pink washes ALL the dishes for the roadside stalls.) it was simply heavenly. very family-ish dishes, but superbly yummy.
haha. i deliberately took this photo. look! everyone's queueing up orderly and patiently. no one's pushing. or rudely "jumping queue" to get to the front of the MRT's door and obstructing way. hmmm. sounds familiar?
(i forgot to take a picture when taking the escalator, unlike us, taiwanese keep to their right. but still!! it's an amazing sight because no matter how crowded it is, everyone keeps to their right. those who are on their left are constantly MOVING. not just standing there and obstructing the way. SINGAPOREANS BETTER BUCK UP!!)
and i realise that Singaporeans' pace are REALLY REALLY VERY FAST. ):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jolin Tsai's activity in Ximending!
the security was very fierce. Quote, "ladies and gentleman in the first row especially, if the crowd behind pushes and squeezes front, please LEAN BACK (or lie back)!!! OK? Because if the first row exceeds the designated limit, WE WOULD RETALIATE, which might hurt you." blahblahblah. i was kinda shocked. haha. and scared because i was in the front! haha. but nothing of the sort happened, although there was alot of pushing and i lost my camera pouch! ):(the one in hot pink is Jolin)(it's actually a boxing outfit. and this activity at Ximending was supposed to be held awhile ago, but it was cancelled due to bad weather i think, if i didn't remember wrongly. and the night before the activity, Jolin actually won the "Jing Qu Jiang's most popular female singer" I THINK. haha.MORE SHOPPING at Ximending at night.(:(:(: shop shop shop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lunch at a nearby eatery near our hotel with daddyYUM! it doesn't look like much but VERY YUMMY!
popular clothes in Taiwan:
tops with prints/"photographs" printed on themvery sweet and nice prints and the like. super revealing clothes. haha. almost everywhere has clothes that can be worn for clubbing and SUPER MINI shorts. and it's also a trend to wear a striking bikini inside and REVEAL it with some skimpy top. hahaha.
(all these above are mainly trends in the shops i've seen. most taiwanese girls still dress very alike with Singapore girls, except there's a greater variety of style.. and taiwanese girls are TALL! average is AT THE VERY LEAST 165. mostly about 168 i think...)
some other popular style..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CARAMEL APPLES!!! (this was actually one of the dishes served at "Big Brother's Return" (Zong Yi Da Ge Da) starring Zhang Fei. super yummylicious looking plus it's rather healthy cuz masked under the thick caramel and rainbow rice and oreo cookie is a green apple!
check out other flavours here!
the famous mee-sua in taiwan. a couple even asked me for directions to this place the other day and i've absolutely no idea where. haha. and daddy told me it's a very famous must-have in taiwan. LOL. and we accidentally bump into the stall on the last day! tsk tsk.
(P.S. haha. many people say i dont sound foreign! i could happily mingle in and pretend i'm a taiwanese student. LOL. cuz they say my Mandarin is very good and dont sound "wrong"! the salesgirls tell me that many Singaporean speaks weird Singapore-Mandarin with weird accent. haha.)Daddy eating mee-sua. he said he was trying to mimick those artistes on "Big Brother's Return" who makes super exaggerating expressions to show the audience that the food they eat is really delicious. (-.-) kuakua! spastic. (i mean the artistes! not my daddy! my daddy's cute k!)daddy and mummy arguing whether it's pig's intestines of chicken's intestines inside. hahaha.
everyone eating... standing and squatting outside..
my macho daddy. tsk tsk.
the famouse "Far East Departmental Store" which is something like OG, Isetan Scotts or BHG.. most of the shops in Taiwan/Taipei are found at the roadside.. the products sold in these kinda departmental store are SUPER expensive. hahaha.
mummy's lunch. which is dumplings and "guo tie". yummm.
daddy and daddy's girl's lunch: $198 "Chi Dao Bao" steamboat. i was too busy eating. didn't take photos. but it's really worth it. hahaha. free-flow of EVERYTHING! no +++ !! (except service charge)
beautiful weather, beautiful scenery.. which made be cant bear to part taiwan... ))))):
haha. kiddy me! (at the airport)BYE BYE TAIWAN!!! *sobs*
pretty pretty fluffy clouds! SO FLUFFY they made me wanna plop onto them and roll inside!!!
fluffy fluffy fluffy fluffy!
sunset-which marks the sunset of the wonderous time i've had in taiwan too..
overall, it was a fun trip with quite a fruitful catch. haha. and people there are very outspoken and outgoing, and pretty loud sometimes. they are simple, but not so "classy" like Singapore. (even salesgirls at the airport goes "lai ah, lai kan yi kan" that sort. but they're very polite and humble with sincere "Huan Ying Guang Ling" unlike the service attitudes in Singapore, which is deteriorating everyday. the people there may not be as educated and as well-groomed, but they are more polite and kind. and Singaporeans? i think there's alot of room to improve.
with the increasing importance of education and the increasing number of educated people in Singapore, every one thinks that they are SMART, they are CIVILIZED, they are ALWAYS RIGHT, they are BETTER THAN OTHERS. but, think again, are they true? ARE YOU? people are always going "i have my own rights" here in Singapore. and that's why i think that people in Singapore are getting more and more inconsiderate, self-centered, selfish and merit-concerned. in everything they do, there must be something that benefits them, else they would not do it.
which is beginning to irk me.
